Temporary Traffic Control
Any person who intends to work in the public right-of-way and/or close any street, lane, alley, or sidewalk is required to obtain an approved permit from the Public Works Department Transportation Services Division (SRC 77.090(e)). To obtain a closure permit (Street/Lane/Alley/Sidewalk/Right-of-way), the applicant shall submit for approval a minimum of three business days in advance:
- A completed permit application form.
- A drawing clearly detailing the proposed traffic control plan (signs, cones, detour routes and their placement, etc.).
- Payment of permit fee.
A proposed closure of a collector or arterial street shall require a two-week notification prior to the planned closure.
The City Traffic Engineer, or his designee, reserves the right to deny or modify the submitted traffic control plan. In addition, should a problem arise as a result of the closure, additional traffic control may be required at the permittee’s expense.
