Salem Senior Center

Make a Gift to Friends of the Salem Senior Center Endowment Fund

In August 2003, Friends of the Salem Senior Center voted to establish an endowment fund with $50,000 that had been raised by seniors over a number of years. Today the fund balance is $67,816.46.

An endowment consists of contributions whose principal is kept intact indefinitely, with the earnings on that principal available to finance operations. Making a gift to the endowment is a way to make a lasting contribution to the Salem Senior Center. The fund is invested within the larger Evergreen Charitable Trust in Salem, Oregon.

The Salem Senior Center has much to celebrate. The Center has been serving the needs of seniors through program offerings and services since 1976. Today more than 100 programs and services are offered. In February 2006, the Center received national accreditation by the National Institute of Senior Centers. Of more than 15,000 senior centers across the country, only 120 are accredited. The Salem Senior Center is the first senior center in the states of Oregon and Washington to receive this recognition.

It is through the generosity of endowment givers and your support that the Salem Senior Center remains open and continues to be a valued community asset for seniors and their families.

You can help us to continue our proud tradition. Your legacy of a gift to the endowment fund can ensure that the Center will remain a vital community center for years to come and, most importantly, demonstrates your lasting commitment to the Center. For more information about the endowment fund, or other ways to support the Center, call Andrew Toney at 503-588-6324.
