Park volunteers are #1!

Volunteers serve their community through many roles:
  • Litter pick-up
  • Park Patrol
  • Park Partnership
  • Fire hydrant painting
  • Donating supplies, money, and talent
  • Deadheading roses
  • Organizing fundraisers
  • Wetlands support

--and more!

July Partner of the Month

Parks Operations has had the pleasure and privilege this summer of partnering with six young adults and their job coaches from Garten Services, Inc. This group spent five days a week for six weeks this summer learning job skills while working in Salem Parks. They scraped and painted hundreds of picnic tables throughout our park system.

Thank you to the group from Garten Services, Inc. Parks Operations is proud to call you our July Partner of the Month! Our community is a friendlier and more beautiful place to live because of your commitment!

Fire Hydrant Painters

Fire hydrants are painted to make them more visible in the event of an emergency situation, making this a very valuable project to undertake. It is also a great group project! All equipment to scrape, clean, and paint the fire hydrants is provided by Parks Operations Division.
