2008 Salem Park Improvement Fund Award Program

On June 25, 2007, City Council approved the FY2007-08 budget.  The budget included $75,000 for a matching award program called the Salem Park Improvement Fund (SPIF). The SPIF program was first established in 2006 and is intended to provide an opportunity for Salem's Neighborhood Associations (NA) to partner with the City to help make park improvements (i.e. new playground equipment, lighting, etc.).  Northgate Park Spray Pad

If your Neighborhood Association has a project idea in mind, and is interested in applying for a SPIF award or, if you are interested in volunteering your time on any of the following projects, please contact Toni Whitler, Administrative Analyst, Parks Operations Division, at 503-588-6304, or by email at twhitler@cityofsalem.net.

To make a financial donation for any of these projects, or general park improvements, checks can be made out to the Salem Parks Tradition Fund and mailed to Salem Parks Management office, 1460 20th Street SE, Building 14, Salem OR 97302. If making a donation for a specific project, please note the project name on the check.

The Internal Revenue Code recognizes the City of Salem as a Section 170(c)(1) organization, which allows donations to be classified as a charitable contribution.   However, as the City of Salem does not advise as to the deductibility of contributions received, you may need to consult with a tax advisor to determine the deductibility of the donation.
