The Salem Senior Center opened its doors in 1976 after a successful fund raising effort led by seniors and the development of a partnership with the City of Salem. This unique partnership consists of the City of Salem funding the Center's operational and maintenance budget, while program fees, community and business sponsorship support, fund raising events, and in-kind contributions help to fund programs and services. Partners such as Senior Volunteers, Chemeketa Community College, RSVP, Alzheimer's Association, Townhouse, and Salem Hospital allow the Center to offer a full variety of programs and services such as:
