May 5, 2008 - Structure Fire, Mohogany Ct NE

At 11:47 am Salem Fire Department responded to an structure fire located at 1648 Mohogany Ct NE. The first alarm sent 3 engines, ladder truck and Battalion Chief.  Fire Fighters responding to the scene could see a large column of black smoke coming from the area.  A second alarm was called at 11:49 am prior to the first alarm companies' arrival.  The second alarm brought more fire fighters and apparatus to the scene. 

When fire fighters arrived they had a motor home fully involved with fire.  The motor home was just a couple in feet away from the residence which had also started to burn.

Fire fighters aggressively started to fight the fire stopping the spread of the fire to inside this single family home.  A shed that was in front of the motor home was involved with heavy amounts of fire.  Also, the neighbors house was threaten with fire. Fire fighters were able to stop the fire before in caused intensive amount of damage to the neighbor's house.

The occupant, Mr. CW Warren stated he was changing the oil in the motor home prior to the fire.  He had just come inside the house for a few minutes before the fire occurred.

No injuries were reported due to the incident.  Damage was estimated at $50,000 for all structures, motor home, and contents that were damaged.

Salem fire investigator is on the scene conducting an investigation.
